Veronica and I were invited by the Mayor of Church Stretton, Cllr Michael Braid, to visit the town. We met at the new Health & Wellbeing Centre and were welcomed by the manager, Nicola McPherson. After a brief tour of the charming town with the Mayor, we returned to the Centre for an interesting meeting with Lee Chapman, Shropshire Councillor who is the Portfolio Holder for Health and Adult Social Care, to discuss how best to disseminate information about charitable services available within the county. We went on to Church Stretton School to hear an excellent recital by “4 Girls 4 Harps” as part of the Church Stretton Arts Festival (www.strettonfestival.org.uk). We were met by committee member Mr Alan Stockbridge and his wife, who very kindly looked after us during the evening. We can recommend a visit to Church Stretton both for its charming buildings and for its Arts Festival, which is in its 51st year.
