Lady Paramount

As part of the Wenlock Olympian Games, Veronica was invited to act as Lady Paramount at the archery competition, which was held at Attingham Park. The dictionary definition of Lady Paramount is “A woman in supreme authority; (now chiefly Archery) a woman appointed to present the prizes at the end of a tournament, and (in some cases) to act as supreme arbiter in any disputes which arise.” She was delighted to give away the prizes and very impressed by the numbers of competitors of all ages in both the men’s and women’s classes, but relievd not to have to adjudicate on a dispute.
