22 May 2013- Royal Garden Party at Buckingham Palace
We were very honoured to be invited by HM Queen Elizabeth II to a Garden Party at Buckingham Palace where we mingled with very many guests from all walks of life, beautifully turned out in either morning dress, suits, National Dress or Robes.
The Queen and Prince Philip were accompanied by Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall, Catherine Duchess of Cambridge and other members of the Royal Family.
After a delicious tea we walked round the gardens on this very chilly but mercifully dry day. The gardens are a haven of peace and tranquillity right in the heart of London - it is amazing to see the natural areas of grass with cow parsely and other wild flowers growing within sight of Admiralty Arch and busy traffic flows round Hyde Park corner just on the other side of the garden walls.
The Royal Garden Party is one of the events at which The Queen is personally and very generously able to thank the very many people and organisations who in some way have made a difference. It is an afternoon where one sees only smiling faces and there is a general sense of happiness - a real treat which is greatly appreciated by several thousand people every year.
