Veronica and I attended an open day at Monkmoor Police Station in Shrewsbury. The purpose of the event was to enable members of the public to gain an insight into police work and to meet police officers. The event was very well attended despite the poor weather, with particularly long queues to see the police cells! We had an interesting afternoon meeting officers involved in the more rural parts of the county, visiting the custody area and meeting those on the various stalls, including particularly the Shropshire, Staffordshire & Cheshire Blood Bikes, which provide free transportation of blood and other small medical items to NHS hospitals across the region.
